Said Yes to the Dress

I got my dress! I got my dress! Okay, so it's super exciting. The whole shopping for wedding dresses is kind of overrated. I mean, it's fun...but do you know how long it takes to get into one of those things? You need someone to come into the change room with you and get you into it. There's all kinds of buttons in the back, or corset straps that are just crazycakes. So to say that I'm all finished with wedding dress shopping is all things awesome.

I took my friends over the weekend to look at some bridesmaids dresses, and to show them the dress I was thinking of. They made me try on dresses that they thought would look good on me...and boy...they chose things that were out of my comfort level. They were out of my element...I mean...mermaid dresses are pretty nice...but not so much my style. My Dad is going to walk me down the aisle...and it would be a little awkward, me thinks, to have such a sexy dress on. Plus I couldn't move my legs. I mean really...I want to be able to dance...and sit...and use the bathroom. :)  Ha. So I'm going for the dress that makes me look fabulous and allows me to do all of those things as well.

When I put on the dress I was thinking about, I just knew I had found my dress. It has the right amount of classy and the right amount of comfort as well. My friends agreed, and we also managed to find bridesmaids dresses for the girls too. What a productive Saturday!

I realise that my wedding is more than 8 months away, but my Mom was going all crazy about finding a dress. She was actually on the phone with all of her Jamaican friends/family members, telling them that I hadn't bought my dress yet and how I was going to walk down the aisle in a bag. I knew what dress I was going to get...and I'm not entirely sure why she was freaking out so much with so much time left. But after I sent out my save the date magnets (made by yours truly...thank you PhotoShop classes!!), my Mom got loads of calls from relatives wondering where the wedding would be and what hotel they could stay at. I don't know if everyone knows the difference between a save the date and an invitation...but the invitation has all of those details inside it...which isn't mailed out until 3 months before the wedding. Plus there's like, a million hotels in the area...and I'm pretty sure June isn't booked up yet for all of them!

So now it makes sense. I'm just thinking that Jamaicans love being UBER prepared for things. Which I find a little funny since whenever I go to Jamaica, it's always so laid back and relaxed. So this urgency took me by surprise. Hmp...maybe it's just my family!

So things are moving along nicely. It's good to know that my Mom can stop telling people that I'm walking down the aisle in a bag too.
